The National Jazz Workshop at Mason runs June 24 - 29, 2018! The National Jazz Workshop has set a standard of excellence for students, educators and performers who are serious about learning and mastering the language of the definitive American art form, Jazz. NJW offers an intensive, fully comprehensive curriculum to include improvisation, big band and small-group performance pedagogy, composition, jazz history, arranging, music recording and production, and instrumental master classes. Throughout the week students will receive instruction and coaching from National Jazz Workshop faculty that is focused on raising the level of performance of each participant. The main goal of the workshop is to provide participants with the resources and direction to further develop and expand individual skills during, after the camp, and throughout the year. Location & Date George Mason University in Fairfax, VA 2018 June 24-29. Hosted by Dr. Darden Purcell, Director of Jazz Studies, this day camp (8:30am-4:45pm) offers instrumental and vocal instruction.
